Test on the Bahamas

Here is my test.  I missed 1.

Q:  Where does the name “Bahamas” come from?
A:  Baja Mar in Spanish means low sea.

Q:  Where in the Bahamas is Harbour Island located?
A:  North Eleuthera

Q:  What is an island?
A:  An area with water on all sides.

Q:  How many islands are there in the Bahamas?
A:  700

Q:  Who discovered most of the islands in the Bahamas?
A:  Christopher Columbus

Q:  What are the colors in Bahamian flag?
A:  Blue, yellow and black.

Q:  Why does the Bahamian courtesy flag have red and white and where do you see it?
A:  On a boat to let people know you are visiting the Bahamas.

Q:  What do the local Bahamians call Harbour Island?
A:  Briland

Q:  What are pastel colors?
A:  Colors that are light like baby blue and baby pink.  Not bright colors.

Q:  Why do the beaches in Harbour Island have pink sand?
A:  Because the coral breaks and the little pieces of coral go on the sand to make it pink.

Q:  Name three types of fish that you can see while snorkeling?
A:  There are lots, but I said grunt, cowfish, and white snapper.

Q:  Why is it important not to touch coral underwater?
A:  Because it is very sensitive and if you touch it, it dies.

Q: What is the difference between a sand dollar and a sea biscuit?
A:  I got this one wrong.  They are the similar but a sand dollar is flat like a pancake and a sea biscuit is big like a loaf of bread.  I knew that a sand dollar turns white when it dies.

Q:  On a yacht, can you find the galley, stateroom and head?
A:  The galley is the kitchen, the stateroom is the bedroom, and the head is the bathroom.

Tubing and Fishing Just Can't Be Better

Harbour Island, Eleuthera - June 18, 2012

Well today was a day the things we did in the day made it amazing.  You see first, we did our responsibilities and on and on.  But after, we went on the boat, Devon our old helper was not there to help us.  We had a new helper named Luther or in my mom's case Luca.

First we went fishing.  Two reasons I did not love it was because really in order to go fishing you have to be patient and be able to reel the fish in and I could do none of those things.  But finally I caught a fish.  It was a yellow Grunt.  It was so cute when I caught it,it grunted.  I actually got to hold it.  It smelled fishy and felt slimy. "EW" my mom said but I thought it was so cute.

At last, we went tubing. I was not so thrilled but on the other hand I did not know what tubing was.  Becky my friend said she went tubing at her grandma's place.  She said it was more fun if you went alone so I asked my mom can I please go by myself she said NO so I went with my sister.  When we got in the water, it was cold but I got used to it.

"WE" broom broom "faster faster" me and my sister yelled and we talked why it would be better to go with two people because you have someone to talk to.  But right when she was gonna finish, Luther went faster and I fell into the ocean and the boat left went with out me and no one noticed only my mom so she told my dad to come save me and I was on the boat again.  I prayed to thank that I was OK but I did have a great fall.  Today was really the best day ever.  I really wish I got to go tubing and fishing more often and you should to. I had a blast.  This adventure was great. I can't wait until our next adventure!!!

Animals got me...

Harbour Island - June 17, 2012

Today was some turtleific day.  Well more than turtleific - it was fishtastic  or  animalazing or an animalazing adventure.  Well let me tell you how it started.  I went snorkeling  in the deep blue ocean way under the sea at the parent's area.  But I was not so excited about going under the sea.  Like really, I was there yesterday and I saw a lot.  What more was there to sea?  The water was cold.

I saw most of it yesterday and I had to wear gear but then I remembered be positive and I went in the water. It was not so cold.  The gear did not hurt but still I only saw grass until I went to a deeper area.  It smelled fishy but I was not excited.  Then after I finished putting on my snorkeling gear, I went under water and saw the the starfish of my day.  It was beautiful.  It was gold it was pink it was yellow it was big it was small - it was animalazing. Wow.

Then I went even deeper.  Sad to leave the starfish I discovered a huge piece of coral.  All different fish swimming around it like grunt, cowfish, lionfish, coral fish,Trisha fish and red fish.  And I saw red, pink, yellow, black, and blue coral.  I saw a black and white eel

And last I saw the turtle.  It was turtleific.  I saw the turtles in Turtle Bay.  Wow.  There was small turtles, big turtles and tiny turtles - soooooo cute.  This adventure the animals got me.

I have discovered many new things just like Cristopher Columbus discovered many island in north Eleuthera which is in the Bahamas, the Bahamas means "low sea" (Baja Mar).

I really had an animalazing adventure.  All these animals really got me. I have learned the most about fish this trip and I can't wait till our next adventure fishing.  With all I learned about fish, I can probably catch a lot of dinner.

More Than Swimming ... More Than Wild

Harbour Island, Eleuthera - June 16, 2012

Today was quite interesting, well actually more than interesting.  It was like super interesting or super super interesting.  Well you get the point.  Becky, Andrea ,and I Natalie Berman went swimming in the wild ocean which is much more wild than the Miami oceans.  Well actually it was much more than swimming.  It was much more.  It was snorkeling (snorkeling is when you have two flippers you're shoe size and goggles and a long tube that helps you breath under water).

I did not want to go in.  I really did not did not want to go in.   I was scared.  I would never go into that wild wild ocean, I thought to myself what if I could not breath ,what if a stingray attacked me and what if I drowned, but suddenly I just stop thinking.  My mind was blank like a piece of paper blank and something told me I had to go in. I was just thinking of negative but look at the positive I knew I really could have a wonderful adventure so I finally decided to go in.

I put my snorkeling equipment and jumped in. "wow".  I saw coral (the most sensitive plant that if you touch it with even one finger it dies). "omg".  I also saw fish all different kinds of fish bee fish, starfish and much much more like yellow fish, blue fish, green fish and white fish. it smelled very fish but it was fishtastic! "so pretty".  I saw crabs, sea cucumbers, sand dollars, kelp and more.  It was a wild mania adventure.

On this amazing snorkeling with the wild, I learned many new things like how to do snorkeling and how to breath under water, and I saw many new animals, and I learned to give things a chance before you say no and to look at the positive. I really could not have done it with out the help of my amazing brave parents and Devon our boat driver and our tour Guide to the wild! This amazing adventure really hit a key to my destiny, I had some fishy fun on this wild mania adventure!!!
