The City and the Dead

January 3, 2013 - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Hi everyone, today I went to the city in Buenos Aires in Argentina. Buenos Aires in Spanish means good air. The weather really was nice. It was cold but the sun was out. We learned many new things. One of them were about a terrorist attack . That was in 1992. The plaza it hit is now called Embajada de Israel.

In 1994 there was another attack in the AMIA. That is an Argentinian JCC. The attack was meant to kill the Jews. In 1979 the first synagogue was made across the opera house. Actually there are about 600 synagogues in Buenos Aires. That means there are plenty of Jews. 90 percent of Argentina is Catholic people. There are still many other religions.

Actually Buenos Aires is the third country to have the most Immigrations. After the United States and New York. Now Buenos Aires is about 400 years old. The city is very fascinating. The main river there is Rio del Plata. There is also a neighborhood named after the river. The main part of the river is called la Boca. That mans the mouth. It is called that because it is shaped like a mouth. Buenos Aires is a great place to live. Except jobs are low so people don't make to much money. Some people think its because the president. Her name is Christina Krishna. She Works in the pink house.

That is kind of like an argentina white house. She is a millionaire. She spends to much money giving to the poor so the population will stay up and the rich are becoming less wealthy. Nobody actually voted for her. The government did. Enough about that, let me tell you now about the  Bohemias. That means artist. One of the most popular artist in Argentina is Claudio Guinea. Guinea does mean rooster but he is not a rooster.

Another amazing thing about Buenos Aires is that tango was invented there. It was actually invented in a city called camito. Tango is a dance of love. Also in Buenos Aires the first subway in South America was built.

Sadly, it was time to leave the city. All the fun was not over yet. Here it got fun and scary. We were going to a mausoleum. That is a cemetery were people are berried in little houses. Each house is worth about one million dollars. We were not there to see everyone who was buried. We were there to see Eva Peron's coffin. Eva was famous for helping the poor. She had a rough child hood and moved to Argentina to become an actor. She is berried 8 m under ground. That's because some people don't like her and want to kill her. For three years after she died her body embalmbed. They put special chemical. It is against the law to touch any of the coffins unless your part if there family. The cemetery is called the city of angles.

Well today was the best. Tomorrow might be even better. We will go see gauchos. That means cowboy. We will also ride cattle. We might be the only ones everyone else is at the beach. That is five hours away. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!
